Why the Board Game

The cards developed, based on the design research methods (psychogeography, appreciative inquiry and artefact analysis), were placed within a board game, to give them a base and add fun element to the toolkit, that could make the process participatory and entertaining (Adams, E.2014). The aim of the board was to all showcase progress, while dialogue exchange would take place between the participants through engagement through game (Brandt, E.2006), eliciting rich insights about the borough.

Image 1: The long board game: was a rollable sheet where each of the tasks were completed and filled out within the board. The aim of this board let participants co-create, by filling in the board squares as they play and complete tasks.

<aside> 💡 Testing showed that the board was too large, the element of competition was missing and the engagement within the participants was weak, as it was more to do with ‘doing’ rather than ‘envisioning’
