Incorporating Design Methods into the Cards

We built on our previously successful random association/bootlegging approach by introducing cards with Southwark-specific objects and places. This enabled us to direct the creativity and speculation of participants towards a particular theme.

We wanted to devise a method that could give the participants directions based, what to talk about and not how to start talking about it.

To tackle the ‘how’ , ******we decided to incorporate three design research methods, that could help in eliciting lived and personal narratives of the residents, while exploring different parts of their life and leading them to creative ideation.

Set of cards and the method incorporated in them

• Place Cards - They were inspired by the method of psycho-geography. According to Smith (2010) ****Psycho-geography explores the personal associations and emotions within the urban space. The cards helped in exploring residents’ connections to their borough and how they relate to their space and how they envision the place to be in 2030
