Our initial approach was focused on learning about the individuals residing in the borough and establishing connections with diverse cultures and ethnicities present in the area. To accomplish this, we conducted a small exercise. We formed three groups and explored Elephant and Castle to gain insight into the demographics and the types of public installations that citizens engage with and the reasons behind this.

<aside> 💡 Although the activity yielded mixed results due to each group having different board layouts, varying demographics, and different explanations of the categories, it enabled us to connect with the local community and gain a base understanding of the diverse demographics in Southwark Borough, particularly in Elephant and Castle.

At present, the council conducts 'Southwark 2030' conversations via various online and offline channels to engage with the citizens. Christine, from the council, extended an invitation for us to participate in one of their conversations to gain insights into the nature of these discussions and the extent of citizen engagement.
